Types of Warts

Common Warts: These are typically found on hands, around nails, and knees, but they can appear anywhere on the body. Common warts have a rough, grainy texture and a rounded top. They are usually brownish in color.

Plantar Warts: These grow into the soles of the feet, presenting as blackish lesions that cause pain under pressure on the bottom of the foot, often accompanied by hard skin.

Flat Warts: Found on the face, back of hands, and shins, flat warts are small, multiple, smooth, and flat-topped, sometimes with hyperpigmentation.

Filiform Warts: These are soft, thin, finger-like growths commonly found on the face and neck.

Periungual Warts: Located under and around toenails and fingernails, these warts can be painful and interfere with healthy nail growth.

Wart Treatments:

Various treatment options are available for warts, all aimed at removing the wart and boosting the immune system’s response to fight the virus.

Electrosurgery: This method uses an electrical charge to burn the wart tissue, causing it to dry up and fall off. Electrosurgery is effective for single warts or small areas, but it may leave scars if not performed correctly on larger areas of warts.

Topical Applications (Clinic Based): Different agents such as salicylic acids, podophyllin, or trichloroacetic acids are directly applied to warts to destroy them. This treatment requires multiple sessions, and results can be somewhat unpredictable.
